Chemist II
Function: Develop and manufacture inorganic and organometallic products for a broad variety of applications in diverse technology areas such as crystal growth, electronics, energy generation, chemical synthesis and more.
Location: Rockford, IL
FLSA Status: Exempt
Role and Responsibilities:
- Employ technical knowledge in inorganic and organometallic chemistries, and analytical techniques to develop new products, and then scale-up manufacturing
- Work independently and make sound decisions based on the company’s strategic goals
- Follow SOPs and approved company material preparation procedures
- Set up and run chemical operations independently or under minimal supervision
- Perform basic analytical testing of products and intermediates
- Maintain lab notebook
- Package materials as needed
- Consolidate chemical waste and move to satellite accumulation
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. in Chemistry with 3+ years of industrial chemical laboratory work experience
- Knowledge of inorganic, and/or organometallic chemistry
- Hands-on experience with major analytical techniques, including x-ray powder diffraction, nuclear magnetic resonance, IR spectroscopy, and gas chromatography
- Eligible to work in the USA
Preferred:
- M.S. + 1 year of industrial chemical laboratory work experience or PHD with hands-on synthetic experience in a research laboratory
- Experience with process optimization and scale-up
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivation and desire to grow professionally
