CHEMTREC International Hazmat Summit in Nashville, TN

ProChem Inc. recently attended the 2026 CHEMTREC International Hazmat Summit in Nashville, where industry leaders gathered to discuss the latest developments in hazardous materials safety, regulatory compliance, emergency response, and emerging risks across the chemical supply chain.

The multi-day summit featured a wide range of sessions focused on strengthening hazmat readiness and improving coordination across industry, government, and emergency response organizations. Our Shipping Manager, Aletha Cunningham, participated in presentations and discussions covering:

• Global Regulatory updates, including new chemical compliance actions in the EU and Asia-Pacific regions, and strategies for navigating international requirements.

• U.S. regulatory and security programs, with insights from PHMSA, FRA, FAA, FMCSA, TSA Surface Operations, and the U.S. Department of State’s Chemical Security Program. These sessions highlighted how agencies are working to protect critical transportation infrastructure and prevent chemical misuse.

• Risk Management and corporate responsibility, emphasizing how organizations can move beyond basic compliance toward stronger safety culture, reputation management, and operationsl resilience.

• Safety Data Sheet (SDS) quality and accessibility, including HazCom 2024 updates, improving SDS accuracy, and how incomplete SDS information can hinder emergency response. A roundtable discussion explored practical steps organizations can take to strengthen SDS management.

Across these sessions, Aletha connected with hazmat specialists, regulators, emergency responders, and industry peers – gaining insights that directly support ProChem’s commitment to safe, compliant, and reliable chemical shipping.  Key takeaways will help strengthen internal processes and support continuous improvement across logistics operations.
