Improved High-Purity Material Production With New Rotary Tube Furnace

ProChem Inc. is pleased to share a significant expansion of our thermal processing capabilities with the addition of a new 1200°C rotary tube furnace.  This investment strengthens our ability to support customers who rely on ProChem for high-purity inorganic and metal-organic materials used in advanced research, manufacturing, and emerging technologies.

For many of our customers, thermal processing is one of the most critical – and most challenging – steps in producing reliable, high-purity materials.  Issues such as uneven heating, incomplete decomposition, contamination risks, and batch-to-batch variability can slow development timelines and impact downstream performance.  As demand grows for materials with tighter specifications and more predictable behavior, ProChem continues to invest in equipment that helps us deliver the consistency our customers expect.

The new rotary tube furnace brings several key advantages to our production and R&D workflows:

  • Continuous, uniform heating that improves phase transitions and conversion efficiency.
  • Enhanced mixing and residence-time control for more consistent powder morphology
  • Precise atmosphere management to protect sensitive inorganic and metal-organic compounds
  • Reduced contamination risk through enclosed, controlled processing environments
  • Improved scalability for customers moving from lab-scale to pilot-scale production

These capabilities allow ProChem to better support customers developing materials for catalysis, battery research, ceramics, thin-film deposition, semiconductor processes, and other high-performance applications.

Our R&D Director, Dr. Leonel Griego, shared insight into why this addition matters for our customers:

“Our new rotating tube furnace enhances our capabilities at ProChem and improves our processes by making them more efficient. Achieving uniform solid mixing at larger scales, particularly under vacuum, corrosive, or inert atmospheres, presents a significant challenge. This system enables us to optimize complex conversions such as calcinations and dehydrations at larger scales, resulting in improved product quality and meeting customer requirements.”

With this upgrade, our production team can now take on more complex thermal treatments, support custom atmosphere workflows, and provide enhanced consistency for both standard catalog items and custom-synthesized materials.

As we continue expanding our capabilities, our focus remains the same: delivering dependable, high-purity materials and partnering closely with customers to help them innovate with confidence.
