Elemental Bonding: A Family Moment at ProChem Inc.

Analytical Chemist demonstrates to her daughter how to analyze spectral data from ICP-OES.Today, on National Sons and Daughters Day, we’re celebrating the next generation of curious minds—and the parents who nurture them.

Earlier this month, our very own Analytical Chemist Shannon Brandt brought her daughter to ProChem Inc. for a special “Take Your Daughter to Work” day. Together, they explored the world of rare earth compound analysis at our ICP-OES instrument, where Shannon decoded spectral lines while her daughter practiced pipette precision (and mastered snack distribution). It was a moment of scientific wonder, shared between generations.

At ProChem Inc., we believe curiosity is contagious—and chemistry is often a family affair. Founded nearly 40 years ago, our company has been family owned and operated from the very beginning. That legacy runs deep: many of us grew up around beakers, balance scales, and the scent of freshly synthesized compounds. Today, we’re proud to raise sons and daughters who ask questions, seek answers, and see science not just as a subject—but as a story they’re part of.

Whether it’s a toddler peeking into a microscope or a teenager asking about lanthanide separation, we know that encouraging curiosity is the first step toward discovery. And as parents, mentors, and chemists, we’re here to guide them—one experiment at a time.

That’s why we are proud to support initiatives like Women in Chemicals Conference and AAUW Scholarships that empower young learners in STEM.

National Sons and Daughters Day reminds us that behind every great chemist is a story of inspiration – and often, a parent who handed them their first lab notebook.

Here’s to the families behind the formulas, and the future scientists we’re raising.
