Building Skills, Strategy, and Team Spirit

Last week, ProChem Inc. celebrated National Chemistry Week and this year’s theme, “Chemistry: Under Construction.”

Sponsored by the American Chemical Society, National Chemistry Week highlights the many ways chemistry shapes the world around us. This year’s theme focused on the chemistry and materials that make modern infrastructure possible, from buildings where we live and work to the technologies that support safer, smarter, and more sustainable communities.

Today’s infrastructure looks very different than it did even a few decades ago. Buildings are becoming more efficient, materials more specialized, and systems more interconnected. High-purity inorganic compounds and metal-organic materials support many of the technologies that enhance durability, improve performance, and help meet the evolving needs of modern construction and infrastructure.

At ProChem, materials such as Yttrium TMHD, Silicon (IV) Acetate, Neodymium compounds, Scandium compounds and Rare Earth materials support applications ranging from advanced coatings and specialty glass to energy-efficient lighting, electronics, sensors and high-performance alloys. These technologies may not always be visible, but they contribute to many of the systems and materials that help shape the built environment.

To celebrate National Chemistry Week, our employees put their own construction skills to the test in a friendly Jenga Tournament inspired by the “Under Construction” theme. Competitors faced off in head-to-head matchups using giant, traditional and mini block sets, testing their precision, patience, and strategy as they worked their way through the bracket in pursuit of the title of Master Builder.

Congratulations to our tournament Champions!

🏆 1st Place: Justin Severson
🥈2nd Place: Stephanie Gnewuch
🥉 3rd Place: Cory Yates
The competition served as a fun reminder that whether you’re building a tower, developing advanced materials, or constructing the infrastructure that supports our communities, success depends on a strong foundation and every component working together!
